Student held for molesting girl inside college

Twenty-year-old Ashish Tanay was arrested for allegedly molesting a third year engineering student inside the classroom of an engineering college in Bachupally, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Police said the accused preyed on the victim on the pretext of love and physically abused her with brute force in October 2023 inside the classroom of the college. The victim told in her complaint that the accused then blackmailed the victim into accompanying him to different hotels where he had sex with her.

The victim said in the complaint that the accused used to make her consume chocolates laced with sedatives and took nude videos and pictures, which he posted on dark web. The accused compelled her swallow some tablets when she informed him that she was pregnant. Consequently, she fell ill and attempted to commit suicide. However, her family saved the girl.

The victim also told police that Ashish introduced her to Praveen, his friend from the same college on February 14 last year. Promising to bring an end to Ashish’s blackmail, Praveen took the victim to a hotel near Gandi Mysamma Cross Roads and tried to make sexual advances. However, she managed to flee from his clutches.

Police said that the victim was fed up with the blackmail Ashish was unleashing and revealed the ordeal to his mother, who took her to Bachupally police station on February 28 and filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and arrested Ashish, while Praveen is still at large.
